Clifford Walter Dupont (1905 - 1978) was a British-Rhodesian political figure. He served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Rhodesia from 1964 to 1965, before being appointed 'Officer Administering the Government' (effectively replacing the Governor, Sir Humphrey Gibbs) following the Unilateral Declaration of Independence on 11 November 1965. When Rhodesia was declared a republic, Dupont served President of Rhodesia between 1965 and 1976.

Rhodesia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (4943 words)
Initially, the state maintained its loyalty to Queen Elizabeth II as "Queen of Rhodesia" (a title to which she never consented) but not to her representative, the Governor Sir Humphrey Gibbs, whose constitutional duties were exercised by an "Officer Administering the Government", Clifford Dupont.
On March 2, 1970, Rhodesia's government formally severed links with the British Crown, and Rhodesia was declared a republic, with Dupont as President.
Dupont was a London solicitor who had emigrated to Rhodesia in 1953.
