Clonsilla (Cluain Saileach in Irish, meaning meadow of the Willow or Sallows). Originally a village in its own right and once home to many horse studs including the famous Ongar stud formally owned by Prince Aly Khan and his then wife Rita Hayworth. It is now a large residential suburb northwest of Dublin, Ireland. It straddles either side of the Royal canal in the Fingal county area and linked to the city centre by the Maynooth commuter rail line. Clonsilla has seen massive development in terms of residential housing in recent times, estates such as Mount Symon, Castlefield, Charnwood and Limelawn have been developed in the past 10 years. As a result, the population of the area has risen dramatically in recent times. Nowadays, Clonsilla is considered to be part of the greater Blanchardstown area. Located in County Fingal, the area falls into the Dublin 15 postal district.
