Cloud's Rest is a 3025 m (9926 ft) mountain in Yosemite National Park, about six kilometers away from the Yosemite Valley. Although there are many peaks in the park that are higher by more than a thousand meters, Cloud's Rest's proximity to the valley gives it a very high degree of topographic prominence. It can be reached in a class 1 hike from the Little Yosemite Valley, or in a long day's hike from the Yosemite Valley. The peak is at an altitude very near the tree line; the crest is nearly bare of vegetation, but trees grow close by on its skirts. The shape of the mountain is a sharp knife edge, with a steep drop on the northwest side leading down into Tenaya Creek Canyon. Yosemite National Park (pron. ... Clouds are persistent because the maximum droplet size that can be formed is about 200 μm in diameter, which is still colloidal, and because electrostatic forces stabilize the aeosol.
Clouds appear so solid and permanent when seen at a distance that children were told in ancient times that thunder was caused by their collisions.
The condensation nuclei are 50 to 500 nm in diameter, and the cloud particles 100 to 400 nm.
