The team began on June 12, 1912, when the club was founded by Héctor Pineda Ugarte, Carlos Bram, Arturo Bram, Enrique Buk, Santiago Buik, Miguel Sanchez, Samuel Inestrosa Gómez, and Ramón Field. Originally, the team was called Olimpia National and was exclusively a baseball club; however, in 1924, it also became a football team. The club was named by Santiago Chavarria, after the 1896 Athens Olympic games. La Ultra Fiel(Ultra Faithful) is the club's official fan club. The group was the first of its kind in Honduras, and was formed in 1987. Initially its name was Barra Brava (Angry/Brave Supporters).
