Cody was brought up in Lewisville, Texas, attending Degan Elementary School, Huffines Middle School, and Lewisville High School. Linley's parents have been divorced since he was 12 years old. Career

Linley made his acting debut in the 1998 made-for-television film Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack. Subsequently, he had supporting roles in three films released in 2000: My Dog Skip, Where the Heart Is starred in Walker, Texas Ranger as a young boy affected by divorce and Miss Congeniality.
