Cody was brought up in Lewisville, Texas, attending Degan Elementary School, Huffines Middle School, and Lewisville High School. Linley's parents have been divorced since he was 12 years old. His mother, Catherine Martin, is a therapist and his father, Lou Linley, is a hair dresser and professional golf enthusiast. Career

Linley made his acting debut in the 1998 made-for-television film Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack. Subsequently, he had supporting roles in three films released in 2000: My Dog Skip, Where the Heart Is starred in Walker, Texas Ranger as a young boy affected by divorce and Miss Congeniality. In 2003, Linley had a major role in the independent film When Zachary Beaver Came to Town and appeared in the big-budget Cheaper by the Dozen.
