History
The company was founded by Gerhard Hunkemöller in 1954. He developed a water-based floor sealant and immediately recognized a gap in the market and founded the COELIT-SOCIETY, which was concerned with the production and distribution of floor impregnations from then on. Plastic coatings and repair mortars gradually extended the product range. His son Paul Hunkemöller took over the company in 1963. These days were also the establishment of the ongoing co-operation with the Bayer AG as supplier for polyurethane raw materials, which still represents the basis for many of our high quality products. This was the birth of the different COELAN societies. For other uses, see CFC (disambiguation). ...

In 1992, COELAN chemical engineers adapted these building related products to the marine and boating environment. COELAN MARINE COATING has enjoyed exceptional success in Europe and become a leading brand in the marine industry. In 1997, the decorative floor coatings of LIQUID MARBLE and COEFFEKT appeared as a further innovation. Almost 50 patents and registered designs occupy the flexibility and innovation ability of COELAN.
