Burgess was sacked in February 1974 for being drunk onstage, but he has always maintained that his drink was spiked. Another popular story goes that it was actually Burgess and Malcolm Young that started AC/DC and Burgess having been the drummer for the top ranking aussie rock pop band the Masters Apprentices, simply put his sticks down and left the band to look for something more serious, after it was decided to bring in Malcolm's younger brother Angus in order to handle lead guitar duties for the band, a decision Burgess would no doubt regret to this day.
