Growing up in Palm Beach, Sydney, Scotts first played rugby union for Scotts' College and had a successful career in the sport. He later moved to Hawaii, where he converted to gridiron (being spotted by a college scout during a schoolboy's rugby game). After being drafted (as the first pick of the third round), he forged a fairly brief but successful career in the NFL where he played as a defensive end for the St. Louis/ Arizona Cardinals and (although briefly) for the Houston Oilers. He finished after his fifth season and after his retirement from the sport he shifted to business (in Texas). Colin also had a brief stint with the WWE under the name 'The Thunder From Down Under'.
