Colleen Beaumier (born November 8, Canadian politician, serving currently as an MP for the riding of Brampton West-Mississauga.
Pre-politics
Born in Chatham, Ontario, she studied at the University of Windsor, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology). She then taught at the Ontario School for Mentally Challenged Children, worked as a controller at a trucking firm, volunteered for ten years helping immigrants and refugees settle and find work in Canada, served as a community member of the Ontario Parole Board. At the time of her election, she was the Vice-President of a firm employing more than 100 people.
The only reason Beaumier won last time was because her lacky Vic Dhillon was more successful in organizing voters in the riding then Clement's troops.
Word on the street is that much of the support Beaumier has counted on in the Indian community to win has already left her camp and is excited about Bal's canidacy.
If ColleenBeaumier who is a largely unknown backbencher could defeat a star Conservative candidate, Tony Clement, then I don't think they can take it this time around.
Beaumier’s commitment to human rights, her history of community involvement, along with social work and business experience have made her an effective representative of a diverse community during her three terms of office as the Member of Parliament for Brampton West.
At the 1995 global conference on the Inter-Parliamentary Union at the United Nations, she spoke on the dangers of global income disparities.
Beaumier spoke on a range of issues such as her strong opposition to the war in Iraq.
