College Corner is a village located in Butler and Preble counties in Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 424.


Geography

College Corner is located at 39°34'4" North, 84°48'45" West (39.567851, _84.812537)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 424 people, 203 households, and 106 families residing in the village. The population density is 606.3/km² (1,592.5/mi²). There are 225 housing units at an average density of 321.8/km² (845.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.82% White, 0.24% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 203 households out of which 27.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.4% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 47.3% are non-families. 40.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.09 and the average family size is 2.82.


In the village the population is spread out with 23.8% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 104.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.4 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $33,611, and the median income for a family is $40,833. Males have a median income of $31,406 versus $21,964 for females. The per capita income for the village is $14,568. 8.8% of the population and 6.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 12.5% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

In 1924, when the College Corner school was built, the residents were fearful that the state line might divide the community, but they definitely did not want it to divide the students of the community.
College Corner was leading the big team school and with just one or two minutes to go, College Corner had four one-on-one free throws and missed all four.
To this day College Corner is still the only town to have a state line run through the center of their school and their basketball gymnasium.
