The College of Emergency Medicine is planned to come into existence on 1st January, 2006. It will be formed by a merger between the Faculty of Accident and Emergency Medicine (FAEM) and the British Association for Emergency Medicine (BAEM). It will oversee the specialty of emergency medicine (accident and emergency medicine) in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The College will hold postgraduate examinations for doctors, hold twice yearly scientific meetings for members, and oversee training of emergency physicians.
