The Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (GCISD) serves most of Colleyville. GCISD has two high schools - Colleyville Heritage, the school that some Colleyville students attend due to district dividing lines, is one of the highest ranked in the country. There were 6,549 housing units at an average density of 500.2/sq mi (193.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.14% White, 1.31% African American, 0.39% Native American, 3.15% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.59% from other races, and 1.40% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.23% of the population. There were 6,406 households out of which 49.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 85.4% were married couples living together, 4.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 9.1% were non-families. 7.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
