Plot
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. A theatrical agent, Al Stewart (Bud Abbott), has successfully booked his client, Dorothy McCoy (Dorothy Shay), at the Manhattan Hillbilly, a popular nightclub. Unfortunately he has also booked an inept escape artist, The Great Wilbert (Lou Costello), at the same place. During his performace he cannot escape from his shackles and screams for help. It is then that Dorothy recgonizes that sound, it is the 'McCoy clan yell'. More evidence that Wilbert has in his dressing room, a photograph and a concertina, proves that hs is the long-lost grandson of 'Squeeze Box' McCoy, leader of the McCoy clan. Granny McCoy (Ida Moore) has been looking for Wilbert, as she will only reveal where 'Squeeze Box' hid his gold to 'kin folk' of 'Squeeze Box'. Al, Dorothy, and Wilbert head to Kentucky where she tells the story of the feud between the McCoy's and the Winfield's that started over sixty years ago. When they arrive at the McCoy home, they are greeted by a large family, and they choose Wilbert to represent them against Dveil Dan Winfield (Glenn Strange) in a turkey shoot. Wilbert has never seen a gun before, and his carelessness leads to the feud starting all over again. Later, Granny informs Wilbert that even though he is kin to 'Squeeze Box', he must get married before she reveals the hiding spot of the gold. He asks Dorothy bust she refuses, as she is in love with Clark Winfield (Kirby Grant). Wilbert then heads to Aunt Huddy (Margaret Hamilton) to obtain a love potion for him to use on Dorothy. It works fine, as she falls for him, but everyone winds up drinking the concoction and falling in love. The potion eventually fades and Clark and Dorothy marry, and not long after the Winfield clan arrive, ready to fight. A stray bullet breaks the love potion jar and Devil Dan tastes it and falls for Wilbert. Soon afterwards, a map is found in Wilbert's concertina that leads the way to the gold. Devil Dan helps them enter the mine, and eventually they break into the rock and find themselves in a vault filled with gold. Not long after, armed guards enter and arrest them, as they have just broken into Fort Knox. Glenn Strange (August 16, 1899 - September 20, 1973) was an American actor. ...
