Encyclopedia > Command Carrier (Farscape)

Command carriers are the capital ships of the Peacekeeper fleet in the fictional Farscape universe. Peacekeepers are a militaristic organization in the Farscape universe. ... The main cast of Farscape in its third season, from left to right: Chiana (Gigi Edgley), Ka DArgo (Anthony Simcoe), Dominar Rygel XVI (voiced by Jonathan Hardy), Commander John Crichton (Ben Browder), and Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black). ...

Command carriers serve as a mobile base of operations for the Peacekeepers; they are immense ships with a crew complement of about 50,000. Many peacekeepers live their entire lives on a command carrier, and they have all the creature comforts needed to sustain their large crews (including large indoor "gardens" that simulate a planet's surface and are used for combat training exercises).

Command carriers primarily rely on their large complements of prowlers and Marauders to project Peacekeeper power where needed. They are however powerful battleships in their own right, armed with four Frag Cannons and protected by powerful defence screens. They are also quite fast (the crew onboard Moya have to routinely starburst away when a command carrier gets too close, but they never seem to stay ahead of them for very long). A Prowler flying though space. ... A Marauder with what was believed to be a swarm of meteorites in the background (turned out to be something completely different). ... A frag cannon fiering. ... A defence screen is a defensive energy shield used in the fictional Farscape universe. ... Moya is a character in the Farscape universe. ... In the science fiction television series Farscape, Starburst is the primary means of faster-than-light propulsion - and sole defensive capability - of Leviathans, a race of sentient bio-mechanical ships. ...

Larger variants of Command Carriers exist and are attached to fleets as flagships (The Zelbinion may have been one of these variants due to the remarks that have been made in the series about its size and power). If these vessels are destroyed whole fleets can be thrown into disarray and will eventually crumble. The Zelbinion is the name of a Peacekeeper command carrier from the fictional Farscape universe. ...

Their only way out of danger is for one of them to crash a transport pod into the command carrier -a suicide mission- thus allowing Moya to escape.
