| The purpose of this manual is to provide faculty/ EPA professional grievance committees and chairs with basic information on how to conduct grievance hearings that are efficient, effective and fair to all parties and to help committees hear and decide grievances in a manner that increases the likelihood that their decisions will be upheld. |
| The grievance committee acts as the agent of the Board of Trustees to hear and determine grievances brought by a faculty or EPA professional against an administrative officer. |
| A The committee should be careful not to simply substitute its judgment for that of the respondent(s) (e.g., the committee should not recommend that the grievant get tenure or a raise simply because the grievant's professional record could have justified a tenure appointment, or a greater pay raise). |
