A competition regulator is a government agency, typically a statutory authority, which regulates competition laws, and may sometimes also regulate consumer protection laws. In addition to such agencies there is often another body responsible for formulating competition policy. An agency is a department of a local or national government responsible for the oversight and administration of a specific function, such as a customs agency or a space agency. ... Other government agencies may have responsibilities in relation to aspects of competition law which affect companies (eg. the registrar of companies).
