This is a technique that can be used in NMR to find, among other things, the energetic barrier of bond rotation. Complete lineshape analysis is performed by assigning Lorentzian's to each peak in a spectrum. This can be used to calculate dynamics such as bond rotation by calcuating the degree to which two peaks are merging together.
