Concepcion is a census-designated place located in Duval County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 61.


Geography

Concepcion is located at 27°23'42" North, 98°21'22" West (27.394906, -98.356171)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.2 km˛ (0.1 mi˛). 0.2 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 61 people, 26 households, and 17 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 294.4/km˛ (760.8/mi˛). There are 35 housing units at an average density of 168.9/km˛ (436.5/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 78.69% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 21.31% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 100.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 26 households out of which 3.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.8% are married couples living together, 11.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.6% are non-families. 34.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 26.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.35 and the average family size is 3.06.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 8.2% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 18.0% from 25 to 44, 31.1% from 45 to 64, and 32.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 58 years. For every 100 females there are 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.0 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $40,208, and the median income for a family is $41,042. Males have a median income of $18,750 versus $0 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $10,286. 0.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.

Concepcion is on Farm Road 716 and Macho Creek, fourteen miles southeast of Benavides and twenty-eight miles southwest of San Diego in southeastern Duval County.
Concepcion is one of the oldest towns in Duval County.
In 1914 the population of Concepcion was estimated at 150, and over the next fifteen years estimates varied from a low of seventy-five in 1925 to a high of 500 in 1927.
