Encyclopedia > Conchologist

Conchology is the collection and study of the shells of mollusks.

Colchologists (practitioners of conchology) may study animal shells to gain an understanding of the diverse and complex taxonomy of mollusks, or simply appreciate them for their aesthetic value.

Conchology (566 words)
Where the issue grows interesting is that after I took it down and informed him that I had done so he began to query via email and telephone various very high strata of the administration at the university where I work, thinking mistakenly that my personal blog might somehow come under the university's purview.
The conchologist went so far as to email the president of the university: not the vice president or any deans, mind, but the president.
I wish to point out that the conchologist, despite one or two lapses into sarcasm and a serious need to call anyone who resembled my superiors was nothing like as strange and touchy as the Carter appears to be in his letter.
