Congerville is a village located in Woodford County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 466.

On January 5, 1999, the temperature at Congerville fell to -36°F (-38°C), the coldest temperature ever recorded in Illinois.


Geography

Congerville is located at 40°36'51" North, 89°12'24" West (40.614130, -89.206576)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 466 people, 163 households, and 131 families residing in the village. The population density is 236.7/km² (615.3/mi²). There are 167 housing units at an average density of 84.8/km² (220.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.93% White, 0.43% Native American, 0.21% Asian, and 0.43% from two or more races. None of the population is African American, Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino of any race, or from other races.


There are 163 households out of which 37.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.2% are married couples living together, 2.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.6% are non-families. 17.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.86 and the average family size is 3.27.


In the village the population is spread out with 28.5% under the age of 18, 11.8% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 19.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 103.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.3 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $51,786, and the median income for a family is $60,313. Males have a median income of $45,673 versus $25,132 for females. The per capita income for the village is $20,795. 0.7% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 2.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
