The club was founded in 1947 as Connah's Quay Juniors and adopted the present name in 1951, and have their home ground normally at Deeside Stadium, Kelsterton Road, Connah's Quay, Flintshire (which accommodates 5500 spectators (420 seated)), but for the 2006-07 season are temporarily playing their home games in Flint due to drainage problems with the Deeside Stadium pitch. History

In 1990 Connah's Quay became founder members of the Cymru Alliance positioning them for admission to the League of Wales on its formation in 1992. Nomads reached the semi final of the Welsh Cup in 1993 but lost 1-2 to Rhyl on aggregate. They went one better in 1998, going to extra time but the Nomads lost out to Bangor City after leading for a long spell. The Welsh Cup is a knock-out football competition contested annually by teams from Wales. ... The Nomads left their long-time home at the Halfway House in 1997 - a ground that hosted football as far back as the 19th century - for a new ground at Deeside College.
