Connie is the daughter of Kahn and Minh Souphanousinphone. She was born in Anaheim, in ca. 1985, where the family lived before moving to Texas. Her father, Kahn, wanted a son, and named his only daughter after himself. Because "Kahn Junior" (which her father invariably calls her) is awkward, however, she prefers being called by the diminutive "Connie." • Connie is actually based on numerous Asian American stereotypes, for example, the belief that Asians are talented in many areas, for instance, being able to play the violin, being a straight-A student, and being pressured by her strict, traditional father, who obviously wanted to have a son.
• Connie had her first menstrual period when she was staying at the Hills' home while her parents were on vacation. It is debatable who was more upset by the event: Connie, who was having her first period; Hank, who was the only other person in the house when it happened; or Kahn, who blamed Hank for supposedly causing the event.
