Constance Collier was born Laura Constance Hardie in Windsor, Berkshire on 22nd January, 1878.
Constance was now firmly established as a popular and distinguished actress on both sides of the Atlantic and would spend the next few years regularly alternating between the two.
Constance was hired as a vocal coach to work with the stars of silent film and teach them to speak as well as to act in the more lifelike manner that accompanies spoken dialogue.

Constance Collier (born Laura Constance Hardie in Windsor, Berkshire) was the only child of Auguste Cheetham Hardie (1853-1939) and Eliza Georgina Collier (1854-1914).
Although Constance Collier made fewer and fewer stage appearances (her last in New York was in the 1939 production of Aries is Rising), she played many supporting roles in films between 1935 (when she was put on contract by M-G-M) and 1949.
Constance Collier was presented with the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre Award for distinguished service in training and guiding actors in Shakespearean roles.
