Konstantinos Tsatsos was born in Athens, Greece in 1899. After graduating from the Athens Law Academy he joined the diplomatic corps. After completing his doctoral studies in Heidelberg, Germany, he returned to Greece where he became a professor of law until 1940, when he was arrested and exiled for speaking out against the Metaxas dictatorship.
