The Coodabeen Champions (often referred to as "The Coodabeens") are a comedic group with several programs currently broadcast on ABC Radio. These programs are the Coodabeens Footy Show (Saturdays between 11am - 1pm) on 774 ABC Melbourne, and The Idlers (Saturdays between 8 and 10pm) and The Coodabeen Champions Sundays (Sunday nights between 6:30pm and 9pm) which are both broadcast nationally on ABC Local Radio. The Sunday night show is often pre-empted for sports broadcasts, but can still be heard over the internet on the ABC's websites. The Coodabeens are also responsible for The Idlers which runs out of footy season on Saturday evenings. The programme deals with travel around Australia and its wealth of destinations. The team consists of members of the Coodabeens plus former surfing Champion Pam Burridge, "On the Road Chef" Scott Watkins-Sully and others. The program began in 1981 on 3RRR, has moved twice to 3AW, and now broadcasts primarily on 774 ABC Melbourne. It is mainly focused on Australian rules football, with the Coodabeens discuss current sports events and news in a humorous manner, and interview numerous retired football players and football commentators. Its current members are Jeff Richardson, Ian Cover, Greg Champion and Billy Baxter.
