Location of Cootamundra in New South Wales (red) Cootamundra is a town and Local Government Area (see Cootamundra Shire) in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the Olympic Highway at the point where it crosses the Muttama Creek, between Junee and Cowra, at a point 390 kilometres from Sydney and 161 km from Canberra. Although it is bypassed by the Hume Highway, its railway station is on the major Melbourne-to-Sydney line.
