History

George Weyman, the inventor of Copenhagen snuff, opened his tobacco shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, around the 1820s. In April 1845, Weyman's tobacco shop was one of the few businesses to survive the Pittsburgh Fire. Nearly two decades later, George Weyman relinquished control of the shop to his sons William and Benjamin Weyman. Following their father's death in 1870, William and Benjamin officially adopted the name Weyman & Bro.
