During the American Idol competition, it was revealed that Clark had been arrested in 2002 for resisting arrest. He ultimately pleaded "no contest" to "obstructing legal process" due to a plea agreement, and was sentenced to six months unsupervised probation and ordered to pay 116.00 USD in legal costs. All of this arose after the city court decided not to file charges against Clark due to police mis-conduct during the arrest when Clark was beaten by four Topeka Police officers using unreasonable force. Clark initially was refunded his money by the courthouse until the public became aware that he was a semi-finalist on the show, at which time the State D.A. decided they were going to press forward with the case and file charges against Clark. Due to this situation and the revelation to producers that Clark was romantically and intimately involved with the shows only female judge Paula Abdul during his stint on the show, the American Idol producers disqualified Clark from further participation in the competition. Clark stated in his E-book entitled "They told me to tell the truth so...the sex lies and paulatics of one of americas idols", released online through Wraptor media, also reviewed by Dorrie Williams-Wheeler a teen editor for www.Bellaonline.com "the voice of women", Howard Stern on international radio and television, Wendy Williams on national radio, and on a May 2005 international interview with ABC's Primetime Live that he and Idol judge Paula Abdul had an affair during the second season and that she coached him on how to succeed in the competition and avoid idols manipulation of young hopefuls careers like Clark himself. Corey Clark provided hard evidence of his alleged affair with Paula Abdul, including a voice mail of Paula Abdul left on his phone, eyewitness accounts of Clark and Abdul being intimate together in public places, Phone records of Abdul calling Clark and Vice-Versa for several hours at a time, All of which were revealed on the Primetime Live show as well as Clarks book. However, Abdul dismissed Clark's claims as lies, as did the other judges and many of the show's former contestants. "American Idol and Fox commenced to sweeping things under the rug" stated Clark in his book, "as that is a lot of hard evidence to simply dismiss based on a network investigating themselves and their #1 money making show, and finding no wrong doing". "What did people Expect"?! Clark says in the book that "he didn't have the money to combat such an extensive, highly publicized, highly negative, and heavily funded character assassination Campaign by American Idol". Carmen Rasmusen also revealed on a television show with Clark present that while they were both contestants she saw Clark in bed with another contestant whose name she would not reveal. Clark did not deny these claims. "Even surprisingly still", as Clark says in his book, no one has ever heard from eventual Idol two winner and former Corey Clark roommate during season two, Rueben Studdard on the situation as to whether or not Clarks claims of leaving the compound of Idol, hold water. In August 2005, after an official self imposed investigation by the networks own employed attorneys, Fox concluded that they found no evidence to support Clark's claims and that Abdul could continue her judging duties on future seasons of American Idol. What a shock! A completely different stance then Clark was taking.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] this next link is to a quote from the president of the Fox network, Peter Ligouri, which he made at a session with multiple proffessional television critics saying that the "Sanctity of the competition is first and foremost" when asked directly if abdul would be fired if found to be intimate with Clark under the story heading Paula Under Investigation by an "Independent Counsel" [7] [8] [9] [10][11][12] The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) operates television and radio networks in the United States and is also shown on basic cable in Canada. ...

On the finale episode of the fourth season of American Idol, Fox televised a parody of Clark's claims, in which judge Simon Cowell was alleged to be having an affair with himself. The parody was very close in plot to the Primetime Live investigation. Clark released a statement that the parody offended him, and was an "insult to the intelligence of the viewer". "Fox had banked on the fact that normal everyday viewers would just except the news reports as is and lacked the knowledge, know how or even will to look into the actual facts of the situation, and they cashed in on that bet". "Fueled by a highly funded and highly publicized character assassination campaign, the media went to work to severely discredit Clark". Clark's first album, Corey Clark, was released on June 21st, 2005. Although the making of the album was highly publicized, the final product hardly received any promotion or radio play whatsoever. Even the high profile superstar featured guest spots from the Black Eyed Peas and Scott Storch couldn't save the project as consumers were left virtually un-aware that the album was even released and available to the market. Clark claimed that "the News Corp. owned radio conglomerate Clear Channel which is a sister company to the Fox network under the same parent company of News Corp. refused to play Clarks record due to threats Clear Channel recieved saying that all American Idol promotional and advertising dollars would be pulled from any station playing Clarks record". The album quickly flopped only managing to sell 2,500 soundscanned copies. This endeavor isn't completely without merit however, as Clark, proving to be the personification of a true musical entrepreneur, became the first and only American Idol contestant to own and operate his own record label CDC MUSIC LLC.. Clark is also the only American Idol contestant to release his own record on his own label. He inked a revolutionary one album P.&D. deal with the major label Universal/Bungalo Records which helped Clark earn a larger share of the album royalties and profits and made him a partner in the decision making process into the creative development of his own album which is un-heard of for a first time artist such as Clark. Clark made a guest appearance on the first episode of the sixth season of The Surreal Life, as one of 5 possible new castmates to be chosen from in a "15 More Minutes of Fame Reality Hunk Pageant". He was the second contestant to be eliminated after he refused to participate in the shows silly antics designed to make fools of and embarrass the participating contestants. Clark said " i'm here to let the world see and get to know who Corey Clark really is, as i've been heavily portrayed by the media to be a bad guy". After receiving a mountain of negative publicity after his stint on idol nothing was needed more than that to get the young artist headed back in the right direction. (To add insult to injury, the cast members made fun of his high-pitched singing, the same high-pitched singing which landed him a coveted top 10 spot on Idol and earned him unanimous praises on international television during American Idol from guest judges Lamont Dozier of Motown fame, the legendary Gladys Knight, and regular show judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and of course Clarks paramour Paula Abdul), and WWE Tough Enough first season winner Maven Huffman was chosen as the new castmate. Clark says that "he was happy that maven made it instead of him as he was only interested in furthering his musical career and not becoming a circus act for the media and world to make fun of and laugh at". Clark has also appeared on the legendary television show Soul Train. As well as several international news shows, international radio shows, a 2003 cover of People magazine, a 2005 cover of Steppin' out Magazine, a 2005 cover of New music weekly magazine, he hosted the 2005 New music weekly awards and he's been featured in several magazines and news articles around the globe.
