Life and career
Corey began his music career performing with many bands in Des Moines, Iowa. Stone Sour was formed in the early '90s and became one of the biggest bands on the gradually growing Des Moines music scene. He was recruited by Slipknot as their lead vocalist with whom he got his biggest break, Slipknot got signed to Roadrunner Records in 1998. In 2000 Corey was approached by ex-Stone Sour band member Josh Rand with songs he had been working on, eventually they worked their way back to a near same line-up as the previous Stone Sour and in 2002 they released their self-titled album. With the help of Corey already being an established star, the revival Stone Sour was thought to be the end of Slipknot. This was not the case as they rejoined in 2004 to release their third album Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). Corey has said that Slipknot and Stone Sour are like children to him, it would be unfair to pick a favourite, and he enjoys being a part of both of these bands. In 2006 Stone Sour returned with their second album Come What(ever) May an album which brought about even more recognition to Stone Sour and established them as more than just a Slipknot side project. Taylor planned on contributing to thrash metal band Anthrax's latest untitled album,[4] [5][6] but due to Taylor's other projects, conflicts with their schedule emerged and Taylor will now be contributing to only a few songs instead of the entire album, as originally planned.[7] Taylor is currently signed to Roadrunner Records. [8] Taylor credits Korn, Black Sabbath, Mötley Crüe and Kiss among others as his favourite bands. Taylor writes a monthly column for the UK rock music magazine Rock Sound. Personal life Taylor grew up in poverty, raised by his mother. He didn't meet his father until he was 32, but the two eventually built a strong relationship.[10] Taylor is now divorced from his long-time wife, Scarlett, with whom he fathered a son, Griffin,[11] however he has many related tattoos of them on his body.[12] Taylor has also battled with alcoholism, almost attempting suicide one time during an alcohol fuelled frenzy. On November 23rd 2003 an intoxicated Taylor tried to jump off an eighth floor balcony at the Hyatt hotel on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. His wife at the time, Scarlett, managed to talk him out of it, however afterwards she told him that if he didn't sober up she would leave him. After seriously thinking about his life, Taylor promised never to touch alcohol again - a vow he has managed to keep to even to this day.[13] Sunset Boulevard (officially known as West Sunset Boulevard, except in Beverly Hills) is a street in the western part of Los Angeles County, California, that stretches from Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Coast Highway at the Pacific Ocean in the Pacific Palisades. ...
