Corinth is a village located in Saratoga County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,474.


The Village of Corinth is by the east town line of the Town of Corinth.

Geography

The village is next to the Hudson River.


Corinth is located at 43°14'37" North, 73°49'44" West (43.24375, -73.828944)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.60% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,474 people, 1,024 households, and 653 families residing in the village. The population density is 892.7/km² (2,318.6/mi²). There are 1,144 housing units at an average density of 412.8/km² (1,072.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.10% White, 0.28% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.24% Pacific Islander, 0.49% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. 1.17% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 1,024 households out of which 30.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.3% are married couples living together, 12.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.2% are non-families. 30.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.97.


In the village the population is spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 93.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.3 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $30,539, and the median income for a family is $39,205. Males have a median income of $31,481 versus $26,163 for females. The per capita income for the village is $16,134. 11.9% of the population and 6.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 13.3% of those under the age of 18 and 8.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
