Corsican Constitution was a Corsican constitution created in 1755. It is sometimes considered the first modern codified world constitution, although it is relatively unknown compared to United States Constitution of 1787 and Polish Constitution of 3rd May of 1791, which are commonly recognized as the first modern constitutions. The Corsican Constitution has been in force from 1755 until annexation of island by France in 1769. It has introduced a democratic and liberal political system, fairly unique in the contemporary Europe. Among its most prominent drafters was Pasquale Paoli.
