Corvo is both a parish and a municipality in northwestern part of the Azores. The population is 426 (2001) and the area is 17.1 km². It has only one parish - one of the smallest in the Azores. The municipality includes the entire portion of the island of Corvo, which is surrounded with the Atlantic Ocean. The nearest parish is in Santa Cruz das Flores on Flores Island. The island has an airport, a fire station, a school and hotels for tourists.


The municipality has no boundaries which means it is encircled with the Atlantic Ocean. It's also the single portuguese municipality with no parishes.

AZORES (Acores), or Western Islands, an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, belonging to the kingdom of Portugal.
Thus the Azores are the farthest from any continent of all the island groups in the Atlantic; but they are usually regarded as belonging to Europe, as their climate and flora are European in character.
