Cosima Devito (b. November 1, 1976), is an Australian singer, was notable for coming 3rd in the first series of Australian Idol in Australia in 2003.


She generated some controversy when she quit the Australian Idol competition due to a throat condition at very short notice, in fact on the very episode which would determine who would move to the final two. This caused Channel 10 to issue refunds for all votes for that show.


She grew up in Perth, Western Australia with her Italian family and entered various talent contests while in school. She then went to university to get a Bachelor of Commerce degree.


She was flown to Nashville a few years ago to discuss a record deal but was turned down because of a lack of fanbase back in Australia.


After doing Australian Idol Cosima flew to Los Angeles to record her debut album with songs penned by songwriter Diane Warren. Her first single When The War Is Over, a cover of a Cold Chisel ballad was released in Australia on August 9 2004 on her independent label CDV Records, and debuted at #1 in the ARIAnet singles chart ahead of fellow Australian Idol Paulini who came 4th in the competition and Australian singer-songwriter Missy Higgins (both had also reached #1 before her).


Her debut album was Released on 11 October 2004. It debut at #2 on the ARIA charts

Cosima Wagner (December 25, 1837 - April 1, 1930) was the daughter of the virtuoso pianist and composer, Franz Liszt.
She was born out of wedlock, at Bellagio, Italy, to the Countess Marie d'Agoult, an author using the pen name Daniel Stern, a long-standing mistress of Liszt.
Cosima already had two children from her first marriage, and her first child by Wagner, Isolde, was born before she re-married.
