Nevertheless, the Greek mobile phone company Cosmote (that also owns mobile phone companies in Bulgaria, Republic of Macedonia and Albania) agreed to buy the majority of shares and the management of Cosmorom from its parent company OTE (the Greek ex-telecoms monopoly) that also owns Romtelecom, Romania's fixed telephone company. OTE (NYSE: OTE) is the national telecom provider of Greece. ...

Considering Cosmote's success stories in entering mobile markets in Bulgaria, Republic of Macedonia and Albania and the fact that the company is the biggest mobile operator in Greece and a major player in the Balkans, also exclusively marketing i-mode and i-mode 3G (for the first time outside Japan) in all these markets it is highly possible that the remarketing of Cosmorom will be succesfull.

Cosmote officials believe that there is room for Cosmote România in the market of Romania where mobile penetration is at about 50% and growing fast, so they are preparing for an aggressive come back until the end of 2005 with the aim of extending network coverage and providing exclusive services, thus gaining customers.
