Cougars is a Chicago-based rock band currently signed to the New York-based label Go Kart Records. Five of the eight members are former members of Hot Stove Jimmy, a ska band based in the same area. While Cougars do have a two-piece horn section, their music is largely dissimilar to ska and is often compared to that of Rocket from the Crypt. The band avoids categorizing themselves in interviews; they've claimed to be simply "a rock band with horns" [1] and "a rock band making rock music."
