Encyclopedia > Countercurrent Heat Exchange

Counter-current heat exchange refers to transferring heat between 2 fluids going in opposite direction via a heat exchanger. The advantage this has over co-current heat exchange is because it obtains a greater log mean temperature difference along the heat exchanger surface. Greater the temperature difference means more heat will be exchanged.
