Encyclopedia > Coup of 1913

Coup of January 1913 in the Ottoman Empire replaced Kiamil Pasha. Nazim Pasha replaced by Enver Bey who placed himself at the head of a new government. It effectively ended the London Peace Conference. Coup was a significant point in the Ottoman Imperial goverment's position toward centrilization.

Coup had consequences in other parts of the Ottoman Empire, such as the reform movement and the general course of events in Syria. Though opposed in principle to the extension of local autonomy to the provinces, the CUP seemed inclined to reconcile with the decentralists by including Sabahaddin and his party in the new government.
