Coyle is a town located in Logan County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 337.


Geography

Coyle is located at 35°57'15" North, 97°14'11" West (35.954065, -97.236459)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.6 km˛ (0.6 mi˛). 1.6 km˛ (0.6 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 337 people, 136 households, and 82 families residing in the town. The population density is 209.9/km˛ (541.2/mi˛). There are 154 housing units at an average density of 95.9/km˛ (247.3/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 81.60% White, 10.98% African American, 5.64% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 1.48% from two or more races. 0.89% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 136 households out of which 38.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.9% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.0% are non-families. 35.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 3.33.


In the town the population is spread out with 29.7% under the age of 18, 12.5% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 105.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.9 males.


The median income for a household in the town is $23,625, and the median income for a family is $32,000. Males have a median income of $21,406 versus $18,750 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,588. 23.9% of the population and 16.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 32.9% of those under the age of 18 and 24.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
