History
Originally Coyote Point was an island in San Francisco Bay with a marsh connecting it to the mainland. In the 1800s this marsh will filled in to make lands suitable for Dairy_farming. In the early 1900s, the seashore along Coyote was used as an amusement park - "The Coney Island of the West", but this theme park eventually fell into disuse and was dismantled. Later in its history, the area was used as a Coast Guard training school. In 1942, San Mateo County acquired the lands and turned it into a park. As well as containing recreational ameneties for walking, cycling and picnicing, the park contains the Coyote Park Museum for Environmental Education, the Coyote Park Marina and a San Mateo County shooting range.
