Crawfordjohn Heavy Mob

Crawfordjohn is also known for its famous Mob. The Crawfordjohn Heavy Mob was formed in 2003 as security at a major party happening in the village.

It has around 50 members and is growing as word of the Mob spreads across the world.

The Mob is famous for legendary parties, and legendary drinking.

Although often mistaken by Young Teams from the towns as a threat, the Heavy Mob is actually very welcoming and does not look to participate in violence.

However, anger the Mob and you will feel the full force of the Beating Sticks. So far in the 6 year history of the Mob, only one man has suffered this fate; and he can hardly be called a man. [1]

  • Home Defense: Jamie Graham
  • Edinburgh Expansion Coordinator: John Alexander
  • Glasgow Expansion Coordinator: Marc Beekman

Although with the "Legends" no longer in the front line, the responsibilty has fallen to New Bloods Captain; Tom Collins to continue the name of the Mob within the younger generations.

The barony lands of Crawfordjohn were divided, the lower part going to the elder daughter, and each daughter received a moiety of the barony (instead of an indivisible barony title going to the elder).
It is not surprising to find that he used it to recover Crawfordjohn from the Crown, to grant a moiety to the infant son of the executed Sir James Hamilton of Finnart, and to keep a moiety for himself.
Crawfordjohn stayed with the Selkirk line until the 4th Earl sold the barony towards the end of the eighteenth century to Sir George Colebrooke, Bt, a member of an eminent family of bankers, politicians, and directors of the East India Company.
Crawfordjohn Feature Page on Undiscovered Scotland (409 words)
Which is a little ironic because although the village has always been a long way from anywhere else, until the 1800s it was the focus of the road network in the wider area and a very busy place indeed.
Crawfordjohn has always seemed a little different: resulting in the early quotation "Out of the world and into Crawfordjohn".
