Creaming is a cooking technique used to blend one or more dry ingredients together with shortening of some form. The most common being sugar and butter, this is normally done with a fork or pastry blender.In other words, it is softening of fat by friction with a wooden spoon generally followed by the gradually incorporation of sugar as in cake mixing. Cooking is the act of preparing food for consumption. ... Shortening is a fat used in food preparation, especially baked goods, and is so called because it inhibits the formation of long gluten strands in wheat-based doughs, giving them a short texture (as in shortbread). ...
