It is on the southern coast of Plymouth Sound, and the Cremyll Ferry, which carries foot passengers only, crosses the Sound from Cremyll to Plymouth. Plymouth City Council - Cremyll Ferry (345 words)
The Cremyll Ferry, believed to have been operating continuously since 1204, runs from Stonehouse to Cremyll and is often referred to as the historic gateway to South East Cornwall.
During World War II, the American troops stationed nearby used Cremyll Quay to load their tanks onto landing craft for the D-Day landings and laid a block path across the surface which is still there today.
Cremyll Quay is owned and managed by Mount Edgcumbe Country Park which is jointly run by Plymouth City and Cornwall County Councils.
