Criminon is a secular non proft 501 C3 working with government departments and inmates to reduce recidivism and restore self respect to the inmate. It uses the secular works of Author and Humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard who did considerable research into the area of crime to find the reason why a person becomes a criminal. After concluding his research and findings and then publishing them, Criminon was formed to produce these materials and offer these solutions to an area of society that is bad need of effective solutions. To date Criminon is now in more than 20 countries around the world with increasing success in turning the criminal attitude and behaviour around to an attitude based on common sense, self respect,responsibility and ethics. Criminon offers its course to all denominations and race groups and does not question a persons state of mind when applying for it's courses. It does however pan out at times that inmates that have severe mental conditions are not able to complete the program due to the severity of their condition and the debilitating side-effects of the medication. Criminon is wholly secular, does no proselytising of any religion and considers respect of others religious beliefs as a basic tenet of Criminons Courses. The program has 3 delivery modules: Correspondence Courses; On-site Prison Delivery and Transitional Re-Entry Centers. The Correspondence Courses includes obviously materials with questions requiring written answers. The responses are evaluated by Volunteers from all religious faiths including Scientology volunteers. In most instances the materials are also donated. Some critics question the long-term success of Criminon's program in treating addiction and mental illness. As Criminon's Web site notes, the core of the prison program is the booklet, The Way to Happiness, which it states is key in replacing the criminals mind thinking to a common sense thinking process.
