[[Image:586537751_l[1].jpg]] The band started in 2002 when Angus and Alex Rosier and James Wizard created the band who were then known as Malaqi. Their style of music was of the pop punk and ska-punk genre, modelling their sound on bands such as Blink 182, Less Than Jake and The Offspring to name a few. It was during early 2003 that Charlie Mack was recruited on bass guitar. These early days were rather disorganised, with members being recruited on friend value rather musical talent, with inexperienced musicians with little knowledge of the instrument they were required to play. The band played a few simple gigs at local venues such as village halls and school. In late 2004 however, the band was in transition, the style of music they were playing was changing, band members James, Angus and Alex began to listen to more hardcore punk and oi! bands such as The Casualties, Rancid and The Filaments. Charlie's musical tastes were also developing and after his expelsion from school (due to various drug offences) he was frequently not attending band practice. In January 2005, he left the band and continued with his musical career in hip-hop. A new bassist was soon found in the form of Lewis Agostinelli. The band then took on the name CRTICAL STAGE. The bands musical ability became better and better (despite the simplicity of their musical style) and soon regular gigs were seen as the norm rather than a rarity. The band prduced a demo CD in January 2006 featuring the tracks: A.N.P., I Couldn't Care Less, No Vote! and S.H.I.T. This demo was given a keen review by Oxford music magazine Nightshift and then played on BBC Radio Oxford. The band are continuing to go from strength to strength with regular gigs in Milton Keynes, Oxford and Aylesbury and another release in the near future. http://www.myspace.com/criticalpunx A key figure once described them: 'They sound like they're drunk but they're still well good'.
