The Critters film series is a series of four horror, science fiction, and comedy films from New Line Cinema. The first film, called simply Critters, was released in 1986. The films are largely considered to be take-offs of the Gremlins films, but they enjoy some degree of cult popularity. One of the most famous aspects of the series is the alien creatures called "crites" (or "krites") with their ability to roll into balls (like hedgehogs) and combine into a larger ball. In the original film, they also managed to grow to a larger size - a plot point dropped in all sequels.
