Crocker is a city located in Pulaski County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,033.


Geography

Crocker is located at 37°56'58" North, 92°15'56" West (37.949542, -92.265660)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.1 km˛ (1.2 mi˛). 3.1 km˛ (1.2 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,033 people, 425 households, and 277 families residing in the city. The population density is 335.2/km˛ (868.4/mi˛). There are 517 housing units at an average density of 167.7/km˛ (434.6/mi˛). The racial makeup of the city is 97.29% White, 0.29% African American, 1.36% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.39% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 0.58% from two or more races. 0.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 425 households out of which 36.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.8% are non-families. 32.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 3.04.


In the city the population is spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 16.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 89.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.5 males.


The median income for a household in the city is $29,583, and the median income for a family is $35,750. Males have a median income of $26,964 versus $16,141 for females. The per capita income for the city is $13,401. 17.5% of the population and 13.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 22.1% of those under the age of 18 and 19.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Despite the small town atmosphere, Crocker is a thriving community.  We have a growing population, a number of well-established and successful businesses, a new real estate development under construction, and several community improvement projects underway.
Crocker offers the benefits of small town life with big city services and entertainment close by.  Within 30 minutes you could get to Osage Beach, Rolla, and the Waynesville/St. Robert area.  If you don’t mind a little longer, within 2 hours you could be in St. Louis or Springfield.
Crocker has many churches of various denominations.  We also have a number of civic organizations committed to improving our town.  Our Parks and Recreation department  provides a multitude of fun activities for our children.
