Crooked Creek is a census-designated place located in Bethel Census Area, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the CDP is 137.

Geography

Crooked Creek is located at 61°51'35" North, 158°7'44" West (61.859821, -158.128884)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 281.0 km² (108.5 mi²). 261.8 km² (101.1 mi²) of it is land and 19.2 km² (7.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.85% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 137 people, 38 households, and 31 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 0.5/km² (1.4/mi²). There are 46 housing units at an average density of 0.2/km² (0.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 6.57% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 90.51% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.92% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 38 households out of which 57.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.5% are married couples living together, 31.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.4% are non-families. 18.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.61 and the average family size is 4.00.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 41.6% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 13.1% from 45 to 64, and 4.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 25 years. For every 100 females there are 114.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 116.2 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $17,500, and the median income for a family is $23,125. Males have a median income of $13,750 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $6,495. 28.1% of the population and 25.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 23.0% of those under the age of 18 and 20.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
