CrookedIsland is an island and district of the Bahamas.
It is one of a group of islands lying in a shallow lagoon called the Bight of Acklins, of which the largest are CrookedIsland in the north and Acklins in the south-east, and the smaller are Long Cay (once known as Fortune Island) in the north-west, and Castle Island in the south.
The population of CrookedIsland was 350 at the 2000 census.
CrookedIsland opens onto the Windward Passage, the dividing point between the Caribbean Sea and The Bahamas.
CrookedIsland is also said to be one of the most exciting fishing destinations in The Bahamas where you’ll find bone fishing, inshore fishing, and deep-sea fishing.
CrookedIsland has among its ruins the building said to be the first Post Office in The Bahamas located at Pitt’s Town.
