Cryn Fredericks (first name sometimes spelled Kryn) was the chief engineer of the New Netherland colony in 1625 and 1626. He was the designer and builder of Fort Amsterdam.
Fredericks is one of only a handful of Namibians who will represent their impoverished southern African country at the Summer Games.
Fredericks, however, was injured in an automobile accident, and while he was recuperating Carter nominated someone else.
Fredericks Sculpture Museum is to collect, preserve, protect, exhibit, study, and interpret the art of Marshall M. Fredericks and the records and materials related to his life and work.
The building of the fort commenced in 1625, under the direction of Wilhem Verhulst, the director of the New Netherland colony and his chief engineer CrynFredericks.
By the end of the year, Frederick had surveyed the site.
At the time, Manhattan was only lightly settled, as most of the Dutch West India Company operations were upriver along the Hudson in order to conduct trading operation for beaver pelts.
