The municipality reported 153,329 inhabitants in the year 2000 census. Cuautla is the state's second city and also the second largest city in the state with ever growing population ,standing out with many thermal waters health resorts , and it's characteristic climate , similar to Cuernavaca it might be called the city of the eternal spring as well , it is also surrounded with many archeological sites ,such as chalcatzingo ,axochiapan tepoztlan,yautepec,and tetelcingo , it was also place to one of the bravest and fiercest battles during the mexican independence from the spanish control between the spaniards and the rebelds back then called insurgents which begun on february 19th and ended on may 2nd in the year 1812 .
The case having been concluded in the military tribunal that court requested of the ecclesiastical tribunal the degradation and surrender of the condemned priest, in accordance with the formalities prescribed by the canons; the ecclesiastical tribunal granted both requests, and communicated its decision to the viceroy.
